About Us

Dunamis Outreach Australia is a registered charity currently supporting works with people in India. Our vision is to see children cared for, nurtured  and enabled to realise their full potential in a Christ-centred environment.

Miriam Children's Homes is part of Manna International (www.manna7.org), a Christian organisation  that facilitates over 30 Children’s Homes  giving shelter, education, food and clothing to over 5000 children, nurturing them and giving them hope and a future. Partnering with this organisation we seek to see this vision realised.

Dunamis Outreach Australia was founded in 1987 by Betty and Arthur Shepherd after they visited a children's home in Amalapuram, a rural area of Andhra Pradesh in India. They returned to Australia with a vision to see the lives of children in India impacted and the people around them soon caught the vision.

From small beginnings, they soon began to dream of a children's home where children could feel part of a larger family rather than just being another number. They began by sponsoring a number of children in homes that were already established, but then decided to pursue their vision and take on the responsibility of a children's home. Dunamis Outreach Australia was then formed to raise sponsorship and donations to provide care for the children in this one home.

Today, Dunamis Outreach Australia supports over 380 children in 6 homes across the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The children come from many areas within Andhra Pradesh, including some from villages affected by the 2004 tsunami. These children are supported by a sponsorship program that provides them with food, clothing, education, and a supportive and Christian environment to grow up in.

The vision continues to grow as we find more ways to help more children and continue to improve the facilities and options for the future our current children receive.
